OVERVIEW
The Bachelor of Communication (Social Communication) with Honours program offered by the Faculty of Language and Communication (FBK), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) is designed to produce graduates who are knowledgeable, critical thinkers and highly skilled in the field of social communication based on human values, social responsibility and community well-being. This program emphasizes the skills of planning and implementing effective social communication campaigns for the purposes of advocacy, community empowerment and positive social change.
Students will be exposed to communication theory, social analysis and communication applications in various social contexts including communities, organizations, media and public institutions. Areas of focus include interpersonal communication, mass communication, intercultural communication, development communication and organizational and community communication strategies.
In addition to mastering theory, students also undergo practical training through field projects, case analysis, media simulation and collaboration with industry and community agencies. This program also develops 21st century skills such as strategic communication, problem-solving, collaboration, social leadership and the use of digital technology in delivering messages creatively and impactfully, covering fields such as broadcasting, public relations, journalism, advertising, corporate communications and communication design.
